Thanks to the kindness of others in Portsmouth UK, I am able to see where these Ancestors are buried, that I never met, that died well before my time and yet, researching them, has me walking with them, through their lives, I have never seen a photo of them and yet, with all the research and census records, I see them as a newborn, a child, a teenager, a young adult, a parent, a Grandparent and deceased.
I am still shocked that in the UK graves are RECLAIMED, after 14 years - it's not very long.
as per the following email, courtesy of Mal:
Firstly, I found out that Roberts grave has been reclaimed, please read the reclaimed notes below;
Unfortunately since the burial of Robert, this grave some years later was reclaimed. This means that your relatives are still there, but other people not related have been buried on top, in those days the families were given the choice of either buying the grave in Perpetuity, or take 14 years free rights from the council. Most families took the 14 free rights, but never renewed these, the grave then returned to the ownership of the Local Authority who had the right to reuse any existing space.
I have provided you below with the grave location on the understanding that nothing is placed on this grave, we must be respectful towards the current family members who visit this grave.
Robert Wood was buried in Milton Cemetery on 14/12/1949 aged 74 years, buried with him was Emily Lucy Rose Wood, she was buried on the 24/05/1958 aged 81 years. The Plot is called (V), Row No.3 and Grave No.6, the current family who visit this grave do not have a memorial in place at this time, however, the following memorials in the same row will guide you to the grave area. At Grave No.3 is the name Mckay, and at Grave No.11 is the name ****
The photo's I will be putting up will be in no particular order.
These photo's are courtesy of Mick. Thank you so much for taking the time to photograph these resting places for me

Thank you once again to Mick for taking more photo's, below is the Milton Cemetery gates and Milton cemetery where Robert and Emily lay.
Robert and Emily Wood lay here, also underneath other people, although there is no headstone for these other people. They are buried in Milton Cemetery Portsmouth.
Emily was a widow with 3 small children when her husband, Charlie Jackman, died at sea, Robert was newly widowed with 2 small son's, it was the perfect arrangement and they married in 1904 up until Robert died in 1949. Emil y died in 1958, They had a 45 year marriage.

Colin's email and photo's of Robert Snr's unmarked grave.
Thank you so much
Hi Shauna,
I managed to take some photos for you at the cemetery today, which I have attached.
It proved to be more difficult than I expected to identify the location accurately because there are very few headstones in that part of the cemetery to use as guides to the plot numbers. The graves are also overgrown by large trees.
I’ve attached 3 photos showing the rough area of the grave. No. 2 shows the most likely position but it is just a blank area of ground, so I have included the other two to give a better idea of how that part of the cemetery looks.
I am sorry that there is nothing more spectacular to see but I hope that you find them interesting.
Please feel free to add them to your web site if they would be useful. I’ve enjoyed reading the story so far.
I wish you luck with your research.
